Bug Catching[]

To catch bugs, you need to have a bug net equipped. Once the bug net is equipped you will automatically start sneaking. Bugs will usually make a sound or jitter if they are alerted (except butterflies). If a bug is alerted while you move or swing the bug net you will scare the bug away. Wait a moment just doing nothing until it stops moving, then you can sneak again. Different bugs become alerted at different distances.

Bug Nets[]

To get the best bug net in the game (Special Bug Net), you need to trigger a cutscene with Kumuko or Lisa once you hit heart level 9. This cutscene is usually triggered at one of the spots where they hang out. They will give you the Special Bug Net, which has a longer pole and wider net, to make for easier catching. The Regular Bug Net can be bought from the Blacksmith if it appears in the shop. The other bug nets must be crafted using the Crafting Bench.

Dangerous Bugs[]

Some bugs will attack you instead of running away. When you are attacked you will lose some stamina. Most of the dangerous bugs are located in the Topical Tundra, with others being located deep in the forests or swamps.
