Every season, each town holds a seasonal festival. The festivals occur on Spring 14th, Summer 14th, Fall 21st, and Winter 28th. Regular shops are closed on festival days, though the Farmer's Market stalls (excluding the Wood and Jounce stalls) are open for business, as are festival-specific booths selling special prepared dishes, clothing, and furniture that cannot be cooked, crafted, or purchased from the regular shops. Additionally, you will receive double the usual amount of friendship points for giving gifts to NPCs during festivals.

Festival Mini-Games[]
To play the mini-game at the festival, you must speak to the mayor during the sign-up period. The sign-up period is very short, so you will not be able to play the mini-game in more than one town.
From Year 2 onward, you can speak to the mayor to play the festival mini-games on non-festival days. It costs 500g to play, and the only reward is friendship points with the NPCs you compete against.
